Denver Community Builds 300 Bikes with Wish for Wheels

CBS Colorado highlighted a special Wish for Wheels event that brought the Denver community together to build 300 brand-new bikes for second graders at three local schools.
Volunteers gathered at Fillmore Plaza in Cherry Creek North to assemble the bikes before teams delivered them directly to students. The event was held in honor of Steve Sander, a Denver businessman and passionate cycling advocate whose legacy continues through this annual day of impact.
For the students receiving them, a new bike offers more than a fun way to get around. It can create new opportunities for independence, confidence, healthy activity, and connection with friends and community.
