How Our Team Build & Give Events Help Organizations Reach Their Goals

If there’s one thing that every organization, regardless of size or industry, shares in common, it’s probably wanting to be as productive as possible. What if we told you that the secret to productivity lied with your people, but not in the way you might expect. Your team’s productivity actually has less to do with their own capabilities than it does with their emotions and connection to your team and organization.

When employees feel engaged and connected to their work and colleagues, they are proven to be more motivated, productive, and committed to the organization's objectives.

As such, employee engagement and team building play crucial roles in the success of any organization. They are essential components that contribute to achieving goals and fostering a positive work environment.

Employee engagement refers to the emotional commitment and connection that employees have towards their work, the organization, and its goals. Engaged employees are motivated, enthusiastic, and deeply involved in their roles. They exhibit a sense of ownership, take pride in their work, and actively seek opportunities to contribute and grow within the organization. Employee engagement goes beyond mere job satisfaction and involves a deeper level of commitment and dedication.

Team building, on the other hand, involves activities and strategies designed to improve collaboration, communication, and cooperation within teams. It aims to foster stronger relationships among team members, enhance trust and understanding, and promote a shared sense of purpose. Team-building activities can range from team outings and workshops to group projects and problem-solving exercises. The ultimate goal of team building is to create a cohesive and high-performing team that works together towards achieving common objectives.

Wish for Wheels’ Team Build & Give events provide the unique opportunity to combine both employee engagement and team building into one powerful event that your team will love and will see immediate and long-term outcomes.

Here’s how we do it:

  • We work with you to plan a give-back day for your team, adopt a local Title I 2nd-grade class, and coordinate all of the details. We’ve hosted events across the USA, from New York to Hawaii.

  • Your team arrives at the Build location where our staff will be there to instruct you how to build bikes step-by-step, and challenges you in unique ways throughout the build to enhance communication, collaboration, and teamwork. Think partner challenges, blindfolds, and more.

  • Once the bikes are built, we step into the next phase of the event: the Give. Depending on the school you adopt and your preferences, the entirety of the event may take place on school grounds. If not, we head over to the school to donate our bikes, help the students with sizing, and watch them take their new wheels for a test drive.

Employee Engagement

By incorporating corporate philanthropy into your business practices through a partnership with Wish for Wheels, your organization is demonstrating its commitment to social responsibility and inspiring employees to connect their work with a higher purpose.

This alignment of values, employee empowerment, positive organizational culture, and improved well-being collectively contribute to higher levels of employee engagement.

Shared Values and Purpose: Corporate philanthropy allows organizations to align their charitable activities with their core values and mission. When employees witness their company actively contributing to social causes and making a positive difference, they feel a sense of pride and shared purpose. This shared commitment to making a meaningful impact fosters a deeper connection between employees and the organization, leading to increased engagement.

Employee Empowerment: By providing employees with opportunities to actively participate in philanthropic initiatives, organizations empower them to make a difference in their communities. This involvement enhances employees' sense of purpose, pride, and personal fulfillment, thereby boosting their engagement with the organization.

Enhanced Organizational Culture: Corporate philanthropy can shape and strengthen the organizational culture by emphasizing social responsibility and community impact. When employees perceive their organization as socially conscious and committed to giving back, it creates a positive work environment and a sense of pride in being associated with the company. A strong and positive organizational culture, rooted in philanthropy, promotes higher employee engagement by fostering a sense of belonging and shared values.

Employee Well-being and Fulfillment: Engaging in philanthropy has been shown to have positive effects on employee well-being and job satisfaction. Research indicates that employees who are involved in charitable activities experience greater happiness, improved self-esteem, and a sense of personal fulfillment. When employees' well-being is prioritized, they are more likely to be engaged, motivated, and committed to their work.

As you can see, giving back to your community is just one positive impact of hosting a Team Build & Event. Your community will be grateful, but your team will show their gratitude every day through their dedication to your organization.

Team Building

When your employees know how to communicate clearly, work together, and show compassion for one another, great things are possible for your organization.

In fact, viewing one another as part of a team working towards shared goals, rather than just a group of individuals trying to accomplish their duties, is where it all begins. Our Team Build & Give events encourage your members to work together as a team, learn from each other, and help one another out, fostering the view that all are working together toward a common goal.

This helps to strengthen your organization by promoting effective communication, boosting employee morale, and fostering stronger employee bonds and trust.

Improved Communication and Collaboration: Engaging in our Team Build & Give events provides opportunities for employees to communicate, collaborate, and problem-solve in a different context than they are used to. It helps break down barriers, encourages open dialogue, and strengthens interpersonal relationships. The improved communication and collaboration skills developed during our events can then be applied to the workplace, enhancing teamwork and overall productivity.

Enhanced Employee Morale: Working together to build bikes for local Title I second graders fosters a shared sense of accomplishment and pride, leading to higher levels of employee morale. By now, we already know that high morale leads employees to be motivated, committed, and loyal to your organization.

Strengthened Employee Bonds and Trust: Collaborating on projects outside of the typical work setting allows individuals to learn more about each other's strengths, interests, and values. This deeper understanding promotes trust and respect among team members. Strengthened employee bonds and trust create a supportive work environment, encouraging collaboration, idea-sharing, and innovation.

Meaningful team building can make the world of difference for your team and your organization. It’s time to ditch the Friday pizza parties and ‘entertainment-only’ group outings for purposeful events that get your employees excited, involved, and engaged.
